On the 24th of May 2016, the Polish government announced a clear cutting plan for 180,000 cubic meters of trees in the Bialowieza forest. This forest, which is on the UNESCO's world heritage list, is considered one of the last primary forests in Europe. Several months before, the Japanese company Fujifilm was stopping its production of the FP-100C instant film. I didn't need anything else to rush to the forest, in the fear that it would disappear, dragging away our first enchantments.
« There and then I perhaps realized that the forest, in its enduring antiquity, was the correlate of the poet’s memory, and that once its remnants were gone, the poet would fall into oblivion. »
